Bjertorp Manor House
Bjertorp Manor House was built in 1914 by a Swedish industrial magnate who obviously enjoyed living in style. The manor house was built in the Swedish jugend or arte nouveau-style. Stay in style here, enjoying the manor house and grounds and ride the handpicked routes on quiet country roads that cut through the rolling countryside.
Routes and bicycles
The routes can be downloaded at www.ridewithgps.com and can be imported to all GPS devices, or you can have an old-style map of the suggested routes that range between 40km and 80km. The routes have been developed by members of the local cycling club who have been riding these roads for decades. You can take it easy on a bicycle which is free to borrow from Bjertorp Slott, or hit it hard on light, drop-bar racing machine or an MTB from local bike shop http://www.evaldsmtb.se/tjanster/uthyrning-cykel. They will also supply you with cycling shoes and pedals if you need them. You are more than welcome to bring your own bike.
On Saturday mornings some of the members of the local cycling club turn up at the palace and take you on a guided tour of countryside roads that lie between lakes Vättern and Vänern. All other days there is a small additional fee for guided tours and you should book in advance.
After your tour a four-course dinner and palatial stay awaits at Bjertorp Slott. The morning after enjoy a hearty breakfast before travelling to your next destination in West Sweden, or journey home.
You can call the local bike shop to discuss the bicycle you would like to hire and your needs on +46 () 512-928 60. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
